Didier Ghez: When and where were you born and what did you do before joining Disney?
Jim Sarno: I was born in 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, and at six months moved to California. At five, I was taken to Disneyland, like most of us kids, and that did it. I started school and I got the nickname "Dumbo." As a child I hated the nickname because my ears stuck out, and you know how kids tease you. When I went to Disneyland and saw that they all had big ears -Mickey, Minnie, Dumbo, etc.-and everybody loved them, I thought, "This is where I belong." I went on doing art as a child and did art all through school. It's kind of what helped me survive it all.
