Tim Considine
Dave Smith

Actor Tim Considine is best remembered for playing the character Spin in The Mickey Mouse Club TV show Spin and Marty and the older brother Frank in the other Mickey Mouse Club series Hardy Boys.

Timothy Daniel Considine was born on December 31, 1940, to a show-business family. His mother, Carmen, was the daughter of theater magnate Alexander Pantages and his father, John W. Considine Jr., was an Oscar-nominated movie producer.

After his acting career, Tim later became a writer, photographer, and automotive historian.

This interview was transcribed by Wayne Campbell.

DS: You had met [David Stollery] before?

TC: I had worked with him in a picture called Her Twelve Men (1952). He was the pianist whose mother never came to see him, and I was the little brat. I remember thinking of him. They wanted me to play Marty is my memory, and I didn’t want to do it. I just thought he was too snotty and I didn’t want to be him. I wanted to be the cool guy! My agent, who was a great friend of the family—Sam Armstrong, God bless him—said, “Tim, you can’t do that, this is a wonderful part, this is the part. It’s called ‘The Marty Markham Story,’ and this other part is much smaller....” I said, “Well, that’s the one I want.”
