Perhaps that’s why I remember the hot day in June 192011 when a quiet, polite young man named Walter Disney walked into our Kansas City studio without one and asked for work. Our studio was located in the Gray advertising building at 14th & Oak under the name of Pesmen-Rubin Commercial Art Studio. I and my partner—the late Bill Rubin—liked the fellow’s manner, but we explained that we would prefer to see some of his samples before we could hire him. [...]"
