When this interview was originally released in Persistence of Vision #5, Paul F. Anderson wrote the following introduction:
The first time I met Fess Parker was at the Disney Legends Ceremony in 1991. I had arrived early that morning with Ken Anderson and his family. We were ushered to a special area, on the Studio Commissary patio, that had been prepared for the honorees. Ken chose a table and a lady came by to welcome us and impart several short instructions. After sitting for a few minutes, Ken jumped up and said, “Come on, I want to introduce you to somebody.” Arriving at a table right next to ours, Ken calmly said, “This is Fess Parker.”
He stood up, all six foot five inches of him, shook my hand, and proceeded to introduce his lovely wife, Marcy. Only a few minutes of our conversation had passed when I realized that I was in the presence of probably the nicest, kindest person I had ever met.
