Dick Irvine: I first met Walt back in 1942-’43 when I went to work on Victory Through Air Power and was there as live-action art director and then stayed on through Three Caballeros, which was the first show in which he really wanted to combine the live-action characters with the cartoon world. After that stint was finished, things were slow and I was let go and went out to 20th [Century Fox]. From time to time he used to call me and ask me things. He knew that I liked to make models and he liked to make models and whatnot, and he’d ask how we were doing.
