Babbitt’s sister Fanny Rabin was living in Ridgehaven Village, N.Y., at the time [John Canemaker] contacted her, which was soon after Art’s death. [They] spoke on the phone once and [he] found her to be a charming, open woman who was very proud of her brother and his accomplishments and candid about their family history. [John Canemaker] wrote notes during the taped interview (which was not of good quality) and transcribed them immediately afterward, leaving out [his] questions and concentrating on Mrs. Rabin’s responses. She provided previously unknown facts about Art’s difficult early life, [...].”
