Tommie Wilck was one of Walt’s two secretaries from 1958 to 1966. In the ‘60s, while Walt was still alive, she married Tom Wilck, who became head of Public Relations for CalArts and Walt’s company Retlaw. She played a major role in the development of CalArts and served as the first executive director for its women’s board. Tommie Wilck was also a founding member of “Disney Artists for the Arts,” and after having left Disney in 1968, she became that group’s president in 1969.
In 1968 she joined Times Mirror Co., serving as administrative assistant to Franklin Murphy, chairman of the board. In 1971 she moved to Washington D.C. with her husband and served as invitation chairman for the final performance of the World Symphony Orchestra at Kennedy Center. She moved to Orange County in 1973 and served on the board of trustees of the Newport Harbor Art Museum and as its corporate secretary.
