Wilfred Jackson
Frank Thomas, Ollie Johnston
Ask any of the Disney artists who worked with Walt who was the most respected of the animation directors and you will always hear the name “Jaxon.” Wilfred Jackson was born in Chicago on January 24, 1906. An aspiring animator and Otis Art Institute student from nearby Glendale, he began hanging around the Disney Studio in 1928 and after volunteering to wash cels was finally given a job. He said later, “I’m the only guy who was never hired.”
