A “studio brat” who grew up in the heart of the Hollywood moviemaking community, Maurice Rapf was an experienced screenwriter by the time he joined the Disney staff in the mid-1940s. He worked at the Disney Studio for a period just under three years, contributing substantially to several Disney films, perhaps most notably Song of the South and its followup, So Dear to My Heart.
