Christian Renaut met Joe Hale in 1987 on the Disney Studio while working on his first book. Joe had not come back there since he had retired in what was probably a rather bitter mood after all the hassle and tremendous strain due to the release and disappointments caused by The Black Cauldron. It is clear that he must have had mixed feelings since he was returning to a place he had loved so much and worked at for so long, but had left on a rather somber note.
