George Sherman interviewed Bill Tytla on May 13, 1968, the last time Bill was in California. The following is the result of this interview. Tytla was in extremely poor health at the time and had already had three previous strokes. His final one occurred seven-and-a-half months later. George Sherman says, “I knew he was ill. After hearing tales of this big full-of-life individual, I was surprised to see him bent and stuttering; obviously something was wrong. He still had the talent to animate, but he couldn’t work fast enough, and today everything is speed—not quality, and get-it-out-in-a-damn-hurry.”
