The sky is falling! The end is near! Earth is doomed! Who says so? CNN? USA Today? STARLOG? Chicken Little says so. You know, that shrimpy little rooster who declared the sky was falling when an acorn smacked him on the head. Only this time, Chicken Little may be telling the truth. The world will find out on November 4, when Disney releases its latest animated feature, entitled — what else? — Chicken Little. Producer Randy Fullmer and director Mark Dindal began hatching story ideas eight months before the release of their previous film, The Emperor's New Groove (STARLOG #282). Fullmer recalls, "We got some story artists and boarded out a version of Little Red's Wolf — 'Little Red Riding Hood' as a [twisted] fairy tale. But after seeing Shrek, we all sat down and said, 'We don't want to be talking to the press five years from now and explaining why we followed in the same footsteps as Shrek.' So we set that project aside and tried many different ideas. […]
