Taran a young pig-keeper who dreams of becoming a mighty warrior, and Hen Wen, his oracular pig, are pursued by one of the Horned King's gwythaintes in this scene from Disney's forthcoming fantasy epic, The Black Cauldron. Based on Lloyd Alexandefs well-regarded series of novels, The Prydane Chronicles, this animated feature is due for release next summer. Directed bv Joe Hale and budgeted at more than $25 million, The Black Cauldron is the first animated feature to be shot in the wide-screen format of Super Technirama 70 since Sleeping Beauty in 1959. Academy Award-winning composer Elmer Bernstein will compose the score. The Black Cauldron is Disney's 25th animated feature. Some of the film's sequences will utilize Disney's new Animation Photo Transfer process, which was conceived and developed by Dave Spencer, manager of Disney's still department. The new process is the studio's first major change in its method of transferring the artist's drawings to a eel since Xeroxing replaced hand inking 20 years ago.
