Geoff Blum has compiled the following "letter" from excerpts from numerous pieces of correspondence written by Barks through the years. When comics fans discovered-slowly but with growing excitement-just who the anonymous “Good Duck Artist“ was for Dell Comics, they wrote fan letters. And Carl Barks proved to be a ready and amiable correspondent. These chatty, folksy paragraphs perfectly mirror Barks the artist ... and Barks the friend. [Richard Marchall, editor]

My aim in creating this pastiche was to let Barks voice his own reflections on his life and work. Compiling the quintessential Barks letter seemed to be the answer, and there was a wealth of material to hand. In the 1960s, only a small number of Barks enthusiasts located the master. Answering fan mail was a treat, and he wrote his correspondents long, reflective replies. By distilling from many, I hoped to preserve all the choice passages.
