Ken Anderson has been acknowledged as one of the first Disney artists to receive assignments Walt Disney for his new project ... Disneyland. Among his many contributions to early Disneyland were the 1955 Fantasyland dark rides, and in 1956 the Storybook Land attraction and interior of the Sleeping Beauty Castle. By early 1958, Ken had returned to feature animation at the Studio, but for much of 1957 his time was spent developing one of Walt Disney’s early ride concepts ... he was the first Imagineer to work on what would eventually (after 12 years) become the Haunted Mansion. In February of this year we met with Ken, went over some of his notes and artwork from that period, and recorded a few of his memories of how this favorite attraction first got underway.
