The man behind Bambi feels the Walt Disney studios produce a distinct art form, even with the problems and mass production techniques in the home of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.
Milton Kahl, one of Disney's chief animators with nearly 49 years at the studio, is the kind gentleman who created many Bambi characters, Tigger in the Winnie-the-Pooh television spots, and all the little animals sniffling around Snow White's forest.
An ebullient but down-to-earth man who is quite frank about the kinks and hassles he encounters while trying to draw scenes for his creatures, Kahl was in Dallas this week to oversee the opening of an art show. The works on display, at the Circle Gallery, are original "cels" from “Robin Hood," Disney's latest full-length animated feature, set to open here at the Inwood Theater Dec. 21.
