On February 27, 1965, the Fresno Bee anounced the release of a ""Prospectus for a proposed Recreational Development at Mineral King in the Sequoia National Forest." The Forest Service sent it to several potential developers, as well as to concerned organizations such as the Sierra Club. The release marked the start of an important period of history; one which still has an impact on environmental law, land usage, civic engagement, and community.
