The Disney Wonder was designed with families in mind, but adults can get their kicks on Route 66, a series of themed nightclubs. The imaginations of David Rockwell, Helenka Snyder, and Joe Falzetta keep the ship rocking into the wee hours.
The historic stretch of highway known as Route 66, winding 2400 miles from Santa Monica Boulevard and Ocean Avenue in Los Angeles to Grant Park in Chicago, has three new stops. But instead of being located along "The Mother Road"—John Steinbeck's nickname for the famous asphalt artery—these new locations can be found on the third deck of the Disney Wonder. Adult Disney Wonder guests can enjoy a variety of entertainment options in the ship's three themed nightclubs, including WaveBands (a high-energy dance club), a stylish piano bar named The Cadillac Lounge, and the first-ever seagoing comedy club, Barrel of Laughs.
The Rockwell Group served as the design architect for Route 66. "The inspiration behind Route 66 is all about the celebration of America," said David Rockwell, president of The Rockwell Group. "We have created the feeling of traveling cross country. The theme in the corridor and entertainment venues includes the types of scenes one might encounter along this journey."
