Like Jacks beanstalk, the Disney Studios have grown and grown. And with this growth have come problems of communication and of coordination. Even in what may generally be considered an artists play ground this is so

In order to solve some of these problems, a new building was built to contain most of the administrative functions of the studio, such as accounting, budgeting and production management, as well as script, cutting and art. Into this building have been moved the people in these various departments, coming from all over the studio.

Since the purpose of the building was to improve the efficiency of operations of the studio, the lighting was given careful consideration, so that maximum benefit might be ob tained from it. It was desired, of course, to use the same type of lighting throughout the building as much as possible, to present a unified appearance. A system had to be found, therefore, that would provide the proper seeing conditions for all the tasks taking place in the building With this in mind, the Smoot-Hol man company was contacted for assistance in design.
