This is the third column of [Dave Bossert's] three-part series on Oswald, which are expanded partial extracts from [his] new book, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit: The Search for the Lost Disney Cartoons. [Dave tells] you right up front that [he is] not a musical person. Aside from playing the recorder in third grade, [he doesn't] play any musical instruments. But, [he loves] music and [listens] to anything from classical to contemporary alternative rock and everything in between. [He is] also a fan of film soundtracks and am very attune to listening and appreciating movie music. To [him], music is a supporting character to the screen action especially in the early days of cinema. So, it is an integral part of the restoration efforts on the silent cartoons and an aspect of the process that [he finds] particularly enjoyable and satisfying.
