In 1962, senior animator Marc Davis moved from Walt Disney Feature Animation to a new division of the company: WED Enterprises, the group assembled to design Disneyland. After more than 30 years working on classic feature films, Davis was about to become one of the most renowned Imagineers—and, in 1989, a Disney Legend! In the riveting D23 Expo panel, Marc Davis in His Own Words—Imagineering the Disney Parks, we were lucky enough to learn even more about his time with WED (later Walt Disney Imagineering) and beyond. Hosted by Pixar Animation Studios Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter and Imagineer Christopher Merritt, who co-wrote the two-volume Disney Editions book of the same name, the panel was a love letter to Davis and all those his artistry and innovation have inspired. Today, we’re proud to share highlights from that D23 Expo panel with fans.
