Tue FAME of Disneyland is growing. It has become a must on any sightseeing tour of the Los Angeles area. What the thousands of visitors dont know is the importance sheet metal is playing in making their tour of the land of make believe as realistic as possible. The illustrations on these pages show some of the applications of sheet aluminum, demonstrating how the craftsmanship of the sheet metal worker has made it possible to reproduce the wonders of the world of long ago — both real and fictional — and to bring into being, during our era, facsimiles of the wonderful devices and buildings of the future.
Aluminum sheet is employed here not only decoratively but also in many functional applications. Sometimes it is used in its natural state, in other cases it has been anodized with gold and applied in thin layers to laminated wood backing for rigidity. Architecturally it has been used for doors, sills, lashings, registers and receptacles.
