Grace Hurt joined Disney in 1942 and soon became assistant to Milt Kahl, working on the features Saludos Amigos, The Three Caballeros, Make Mine Music (“The Martins and the Coys” and “Casey at the Bat”), Song of the South, Melody Time (“The Legend of Johnny Appleseed” and “Pecos Bill”), So Dear to My Heart, The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad (“Wind in the Willows”), and the short Tiger Trouble. She left the Disney Studio at some point in 1947, after the 1946 labor troubles. Grace Hurt's great-granddaughter, Anneka Gerhardt, was kind enough to share with us the section of Grace's autobiography which deals with her Disney career.
